Indigenous employment strategies work
In university Collective Agreements, NTEU’s Indigenous specific clauses help combat diminished educational and employment opportunities, and provide mentors/role models to Indigenous students. The strategies have resulted in a steady increase in Indigenous staffing numbers at universities.
In this round of bargaining, NTEU’s emphasis will be to redress the effects of the previous Federal Government’s legislation and requirements, which saw these clauses watered down or removed altogether.
